Chart Guide

  • It’s in centimeters. I know, I know. Just trust us — the Europeans got this one right.

  • We use this chart as a guide to physically measure the clothing in inventory and promptly ignore whatever the tags actually say. Baby sizing is really all over the place.

Tips for Measuring a Tiny Human

  • Things go a lot smoother with another big human helping
  • Measure baby on a surface that’s comfortable, but firm, like a blanket on the floor
  • Height: with baby laying on their back and keeping them as straight as possible and chin down, measure from the top of head to the bottom of feet
  • Waist: while still laying down, put the tape measure underneath and measure the widest part of their chest/waist (whichever is wider)
  • Inseam: now stretch out that little leg and measure down one leg, from groin to bottom of feet
  • Foot: with baby upright, place their foot down on a piece of paper, hold down gently, and trace with a pencil as quickly as you can before those little legs curl up; use the foot tracing to measure
  • If baby is upset, give them a cuddle and tell them we’re sorry
